What cleaning products are safe to use on marble?
- Advise widely advises against using vinegar, lemon juice or other cleaners containing acid on marble, including bleach. Experts instead recommend only mild soap and water.
Is Marble hard to maintain?
- Marble does require some maintenance to keep it pristine, though many do prefer the gradually aged surface with etches and stains that blend into the grey veins over time.
What do you use to seal marble?
- To seal the surface of marble use an impregnator stone sealant
What is the best way to clean marble?
- If not using a specific marble cleaner, mix a small amount of gentle, non-abrasive washing up liquid with warm water in a spray bottle and spray generously. Scrub gently and wipe soapy solution off with a clean wet cloth. Rub the surface dry, and buff with a soft absorbent cloth.
How do you prevent stains on marble?
- In order to prevent stains on your marble it is advised you apply a sealant when first installed – Sealing repels staining agents but doesn’t make marble stainproof. It is always recommended that you protect your marble from acidic substances such as vinegar, citrus fruits, and tomato as the acid will etch (eat into) the surface of the marble. If you do have surface spills don’t let them sit on the surface for any length of time.
Do you need to seal polished marble?
- Marble and natural stone regardless of the finish is still porous and is susceptible to dirt penetrating the surface and staining. The surface still should be sealed with a penetrating sealer.
Can you use bleach on marble?
- No bleach or cleaning sprays containing bleach are not recommended for use on marble surfaces as they damage the surface of the stone.
How strong is marble?
- Marble is composed of calcite and hence marble has a hardness of three on the Mohs hardness scale.
Do you have to seal marble in a shower?
- Yes a sealer is recommended as marble is a natural stone and hence is to a degree porous.
Does marble stain easily?
- Marble if sealed doesn’t actually stain easily hence it is often used in kitchens.
Does marble absorb water?
- Marble is a natural stone and hence does have a degree of porosity, which means that yes it will absorb water which is why applying a sealer is recommended.
